Dan Phenicie is a multimedia content producer with 2 decades of experience creating engaging content for a diverse range of clients.

Meet Dan

My name is Dan Phenicie (last name is pronounced “fenn-nuh-see”) and I am a multimedia producer with 2 decades of experience. AI describes me as “a highly versatile, solution-oriented self-starter accustomed to wearing many hats in a wide range of environments.” Gemini sure excels at flattery.

I was introduced to the world of production as an undergrad at the University of Cincinnati. Despite having no prior experience in film, television, or video production, I found a job as a production assistant for the morning news broadcast at Cincinnati’s WKRC-TV. Call time was 4:30AM. After the morning news I went to class followed by another job on campus followed by the studying/partying that is de rigueur for a college student. That schedule makes me tired just thinking about it now, but I was young and invincible back then. I honestly didn’t know that production was a viable career path but from that point on, I was hooked.

I continued to work at WKRC until shortly after graduating when I became a marketing and communications specialist at the Cincinnati Museum Center. My mission at the Museum Center was to plan and execute a campaign to pass a property tax levy that would support the institution and its home in Cincinnati’s historic Union Terminal. The issue passed with 64% of the vote.

Next I worked on the successful campaign to elect Mark Mallory as Mayor of Cincinnati in 2005. As the campaign's first full-time hire, my responsibilities spanned a wide range of tasks though my primary focus was on fundraising and building campaign infrastructure. Mallory won the election with 52% of the vote and was reelected in a landslide 4 years later.

Throughout it all however, the lure of the lights and the cameras never left. When it came time for the Mallory campaign to get commercials on TV, I jumped at the opportunity to write and produce the ad. Soon after that, a short film that I wrote and produced called The Turtle caught the attention of the Christian Moerlein Brewing Company who contracted me to write and produce their first TV spot. That spot caught more attention and thus began my nearly 2 decade career.

My portfolio includes a diverse range of video content for products and services spanning hair and skin care, car seats, investment funds, software, sump pumps, and school supplies, among many others. Several of my videos raised money for good causes and a few even won some awards. Each project required not only a clear creative vision but also meticulous operational coordination and, crucially, consistent and transparent communication with clients and collaborators.

Throughout my career, I have thrived on continuously expanding my skills whether it’s mastering the latest video technology or exploring new creative tools and emerging platforms. This has been crucial in my adaptation to the production industry's evolution from traditional broadcast to agile, social-first strategies, and now into the emerging world of AI-driven tools. For me, staying ahead of these technological shifts is more than a professional necessity; it is a core part of my identity.

And this innate sense of curiosity influences how I approach every new project. Each new client is viewed as an opportunity to learn the intricacies of a new industry and understand the behavior of a new audience. I strive to be both a creator and a student, soaking up information and then transforming it into content that is clear, engaging, and impactful.

More importantly, I recognize that the future of the production lifecycle relies on the strategic integration of Generative AI. I have consistently utilized these technologies in my recent work, whether by leveraging AI features within existing platforms or producing fully AI-generated video segments. Furthermore, I find AI to be an indispensable tool for accelerating research, facilitating idea generation and validation, and developing storyboards and mockups.

My professional journey has been defined by constant evolution and an enduring passion for visual storytelling. As I look toward the future, I remain dedicated to crafting impactful, forward-thinking content that helps my partners and clients navigate an ever-changing world. I am excited to see where the next chapter of this adventure leads and look forward to the stories we can tell together.
